Are you really doing the right Job Hunting?

Got a degree? A not-so-bad Resume?? A decent Covering Letter??? Still not in the Right Job????

If you said YES to all three, you gotta read on.... (if no, still read on lest you don't want to be a part of the average 9000 job losers everyday, worldwide)

First things first, if you were affirmative to all the questions, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, period! Also, one needs to understand that the 'Unemployment' rate is not the percentage of the labour force not having a job; it is the rate of jobless seeking jobs actively. Here's a better explanation to the contemporary global scenario in a snapshot before we move on to what 'we ought to be doing'.

Say the total labour force is 100. Out of which 50 are fully employed, 30 are under-employed(part-timers and casuals), 12 are unemployed and looking for work and 8 are unemployed not actively seeking jobs. The Unemployment Ratio thus becomes 12% and not 20%. Also, now one may understand why Full-time positions are scrapped and new Part-time positions are created.

Lets assume there was a total of 10,000 job loss (full-time positions) in Sydney city in a month and 6,000 part-time positions were created. So in effect, somewhere around 3,000 full-time jobs were replaced by 10,000. Sounds scary? Well yes and no.

In such times as the present, this becomes an in-evitable move to keep most of the labour force busy. And in my opinion such times result in the peak performance of the labour force with increased Savings/Disposable Income.

Where are we getting here?

It is necessary, not just recommended, for every active job seeker to understand the dynamics of the Job Market and keeping up-to-date with the market trends. Would you buy the 1992 model Nokia 1011 in the age where Nokia E71 has already launched?
